The Emperor String Quartet has an extensive education programme - ranging from introductory concerts for primary age children to amateur chamber music coaching. We work with the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and are developing a relationship with schools in Bedfordshire.

Getting the Quartet Bug
Exciting, interactive concerts for primary school children that introduce them to the basic concepts of chamber music and fire them with enthusiasm for the medium at an early stage. These concerts have regularly been supported by the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust usually in conjunction with cut price/free ticket offers for children to attend public concerts.

| Academic Pursuits
Working with GCSE and A level students, we explore the quartet repertoire with particular reference to their exam curriculum where required. We also give a platform to student compositions they have prepared as coursework. To hear their own music live and receive professional players' advice has proved an invaluable experience for the students. We have followed this up with further visits later in the year where requested.

Towards a Career in Music
We enjoy a close relationship with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where we have had many fruitful and rewarding visits coaching quartets, giving masterclasses and taking some students with us on our outreach concerts as described above. Last time we visited, we spent a fascinating day coaching younger groups at the Junior Welsh College, culminating in a public performance at the end of the day. We all have hopes of developing this relationship further into a residency - finances permitting!

| A Life Long Passion
While we love our audiences to sit and listen to us, as players we know that music is experienced in a very different way when played. As String Quartet coaches at the City Lit Institute in London we have worked with a large number of adults who share our passion for string quartets and wish to develop their knowledge of them in this way. Working with these warm, intelligent enthusiasts can be a very humbling experience and makes us realise how lucky we are to be doing this for a living!
